Ironwood Golf Club
Designed by Carl Stepcar and opened in 1973, Ironwood Golf Club features a classically minded par-72 layout measuring a maximum of 6,145 yards.
Ironwood opens up simply enough, with a par-5 that runs 486 yards straight as an arrow along the course's eastern border. From there, the classic style continues, with tight tree-lined fairways and smallish green that demand accuracy &mdash until No. 9, that is. No. 9 is a short par-4 measuring only 312 yards from the back tees with a forced carry over a pond. Yes, it's a tempting thought — but there's even safety between the water and the green than you think.
The back nine twists and turns through denser stands of trees, with a bit more curve to the fairways. You'll enjoy an easy crack a birdie on the first par 3, No. 11. It's only 119 yards and the green is large relative to its length and compared to the other holes. And finally, your round ends with a chance for atonement on No. 18, with another forced carry over the same pond from No. 9. Only this time, you'll have to decide whether to carry the green in two or lay up — different shots, same stakes!
For those that do not accept an off-season from the game, Ironwood has you covered with the area's newest state-of-the-art golf simulators, packed full of 88 of the world's top courses. During your time you'll enjoy a full bar and menu service. You can even schedule instruction with a pro, using the intelligent diagnostics provided by the simulator.
With brand-new carts since last fall and friendly staff to complement its design, Ironwood Golf Club strives to make your round both comfortable and memorable.
