Oak Ridge Golf Club was established in 1965 with one course, appropriately named Old Oaks. The popularity of Old Oaks prompted the addition of another 18-hole course named Marsh Oaks, opened in the spring of 1997. Old Oaks tops out at 6,580 yards for a par total of 71 and features tree-lined fairways and compact designs guarded by numerous sand bunkers and plenty of water. Recent enhancements have improved the overall conditions of the course and have added a couple more interesting obstacles to overcome, resulting in a 3-star rating from Golf Digest.
The Marsh Oaks course is a Bruce Matthews design of the Scottish links variety. This upscale design measures between 4,916 and 6,706 yards from the front and back tees, respectively. The bentgrass greens are nicely shaped and have a true roll with good speed. The fairways, also bentgrass, are each uniquely designed; some are lined with water, some are wide and fair, some are even split. No matter the shape of the fairway, you'll enjoy the smooth transition from hole to hole and love the open design.
Before your round, be sure to take advantage of the practice area here at Oak Ridge, which features a full-length driving range with green-shaped targets and a pitching/chipping area with a practice bunker. And in case one putting green was not enough, there are two to choose from as you warm up before you tee off. Inside the clubhouse you'll find a fully stocked Pro Shop with a staff eager to assist, as well as a full-service restaurant offering a diverse menu. Make your meal doubly satisfying by pairing it with your favorite cold beverage, served at the well-appointed bar.
