The front nine still consists of what was the original nine-hole course that first opened in 1927. Updated in the early 1980s and now playing just over 3,300 yards from the back set of tees, the updated “Old Nine” is a parkland-style course that has classic Midwestern challenge written all over it. With old mature trees overhanging many tees, landing areas, and approaches, you’ll need to focus on accuracy on the front nine to stay in play and hit the turn with a low score.

The back nine, constructed more recently than the front to round out the full 18, is a links-style challenge that will require you to change-up your game plan and manage the course properly as you work your way back to the clubhouse. Playing longer than the front and featuring 29 sand traps and well as many other hazards, club selection and shot execution should always be top of mind here – especially as you’re approaching the many undulated and deceiving greens. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a novice just learning the game, the back nine will challenge your ability to keep your ball playable and keep your score card free of large numbers.

Along with the golf course, The Rock Golf Club also features plenty of great golf amenities right on-site. Under normal circumstances, you’ll find a fully operational practice facility with driving range, putting green, and short game area; a clubhouse bar and grill with many homemade favorites; and a pro shop that features the latest and greatest from all of the biggest brands in the game.
