Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy is known throughout New York for its exceptional public golf courses and today’s feature course, South Park Golf Course, is one of their best. A nine-hole layout that stretches almost 2,900 yards from the back set of tees, South Park will test every club in your bag and shot in your arsenal – so come prepared with your “A” game if you want to score.

As you find yourself halfway through South Park’s beautiful nine-hole track, you’ll be tested against both one of the course’s easiest and one of the course’s most difficult holes. First is the par-4 fifth hole – one of the easiest on the course. Playing just over 272 yards from the back set of tees, the small rounded green on five can be reached by the longer hitters in your group from the tee. With water along the left side and trees on the right, the fifth hole is an excellent place to get under par before moving on to the sixth.

Like the fifth hole, six has quite a lot of water along the left side but in a more significant way. A lengthy par-4 that plays like a par-5 at 435 yards, number five doglegs all the away around the water – making accuracy the top priority here. With a small rounded green that is heavily guarded by woods along the back, you’ll need to make sure you select the right club when you approach the green or you might find yourself in significant trouble. Make it through both five and six without putting your ball in the drink, and you’ll be in great shape to finish strong as water doesn’t come into play throughout the rest of the nine.
