Deal Features

A stunning course dating back to the early 1960s, Iron Masters ticks all of the boxes for a fantastic place to play.

Iron Masters Country Club

Enjoy great Commonwealth golf with today’s feature: $24 for 18 Holes with Cart at Iron Masters Country Club in Roaring Spring near Bedford ($48 Value. Good Any Day, Any Time until July 1, 2023!)

Back in the early 1960s, a shrewd group of local businessmen decided they wanted to build a golf course for their community members to enjoy. They picked out a piece of land, contracted with noted architect Ed Ault, and in May of 1962, the club of their dreams was officially opened to the public. Now, exactly sixty years later, their dream becomes your reality as today’s feature, a round at Iron Masters Country Club in Roaring Spring, gives you the chance to enjoy the fruits of their endeavors while taking on some of the best golf in central Pennsylvania.

What makes Iron Masters so unique and special? Let’s start with the grounds. The course is built on the old Steward farm near the Bedford-Blair County line. Before it was a golf course, it was 230 acres of pasture land, oak groves, and several abandoned iron ore pits (hence the course’s moniker). Though the farm is gone, the exceptional topography and scenery of the landscape has remained – meaning you’ll find changes in elevation, lots of natural foliage and flora, and some of the greenest grounds you’ll see anywhere thanks to the historic fertile farmland on which the course is built.

The design, too, makes Iron Masters stand out. Ed Ault’s genius is on display here, as the 6,500+-yard course winds its way through beautiful tree lined landing areas, 53 sand bunkers, and four water hazards – all standing between you and a low score on the day. Head Greens Superintendent, Kellie Aungst keeps the course in peak condition, meaning your putts will roll smooth and true, your tees will go easily into the ground, and you will have the best platform possible to play your best and enjoy your round. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Oh wait – it does. Along with the course, Iron Masters Country Club sports a whole set of amenities right on the grounds. Here you’ll find a natural tee practice range with a practice green and bunker as well as a fully stocked pro shop and Lefty’s Lounge featuring snacks and drinks to help round out your excellent day of fun.
