The course at The Emerald Golf Club offers up an unparalleled golfing experience in North Carolina. Located in New Bern, this beautiful course is welcoming and fun for golfers of all skill levels to play. Designed by Rees Jones — 1995 Golf World "Architect of the Year" — The Emerald promises to be a course that will prove challenging while still providing a relaxing, picturesque backdrop.
Architect Jones summed up the course best when he said "too many courses today are being built for the one-week PGA Tournament. I like to design courses that are challenging to the typical golfers." The Emerald Golf Club not only meets but exceeds his expectations by maintaining the balance between challenge and playability while also being described as a living art form. The grasses are specially mixed to create color variations that give depth and dimension to the course. The course’s bunkers and hazards have been sculpted with the specific intent to mix variety with the element of surprise.
The Emerald Golf Club has scored many enviable achievements in its history. It was named as one of the top 50 courses in the Southeast by Golf Weekly. Additionally, the course hosted the 1992 and 1993 PGA Tour Qualifying School. Emerald Golf Club also hosted the Curtis Strange Shrine Classic 1990-2000.
Even with The Emerald Golf Club’s distinguished honors and long history, the course was not created to be intimidating — its 6,924 yards have a 73.8 rating from the back tees and a 71.8 rating from the blue. The fairways at The Emerald Golf Club are sure to be a test of accuracy, with water hazards and sand traps challenging you to improve your game.
Best of all, no matter what your skill level, you're sure to receive a worthy challenge and a memorable experience at The Emerald Golf Club.
