Would you be interested if we told you that you could play an exceptional golf course that’s just a minute or two from the Gulf, designed by a three-time U.S. Open champion, and will provide you with an exceptional playing experience that you won’t soon forget? Darn right, you’d be interested! Well, we’ve got good news: That’s exactly what you’ll get when you take advantage of today’s feature – a round at Citrus National Golf Club in Homosassa!
You know the name Hale Irwin – he practically owned the golf world in the 70s, 80s, and into the 90s. Three time major champion, 20 PGA tour wins, 45 Champions Tour wins – you won’t find too many better resumes for former players. Drawing on those years of experience and winning, Mr. Irwin took all of that golf knowledge and know-how and put it into his design of Citrus National Golf Club (formerly known as Southern Woods). Since opening in 1992, this almost-7,000-yard golf course has been exciting, enticing, and challenging players of all skill levels as they try to make par.
Though there’s nothing typical about the layout at Citrus National, you will find the beautiful layout full of plenty of familiar Florida-golf tried-and-trues as you make your way through the round. Several difficult doglegs, holes that wrap around water features, landing areas protected by large sand traps, and small speedy greens all stand between you and your goal of shooting a low score on the day. Measuring a USGA rating/slope of 73.0/127, Citrus National’s conditions and unique design make it a must-play for Sunshine State golfers and the perfect destination for your next great round of golf.
Looking to work on your game before hitting the links? No problem! Citrus National has you covered. On the grounds, you’ll find a unique double-sided driving range as well as a putting and chipping green and sand bunker to work on your short game. The fully stocked clubhouse pro shop is also worth a look to peruse their full line of accessories, wearables, and equipment.
