Located just west of Kalamazoo and Portage, right off I-94, is a Western Michigan golf treasure, Heritage Glen Golf Club. The tree-lined fairways guide you on your adventure as you weave through untouched wetlands, and the slow-rolling hills and gently falling valleys are perfectly complemented by carefully placed bunkers, with great effect.

Designed by Jerry Matthews, Heritage Glen Golf Club opened in 1994. With a relatively new design date, you can be sure that this layout includes elements to counter-balance advancements in club technology. Playing true to its roughly 6,630 yards of length from the back tees, this course can be intimidating; however, with three additional sets of tees, Heritage Glen allow players of all skills to tackle the course to their liking.

Heritage Glen Golf Club sets up to let power players have a go at it, only to realize that length alone won't get the job done. For instance, the No. 6 par-5 is an absolute monster, playing to a total of 625 yards. While power helps cut the distance down, finesse will be required as well to avoid the marsh and bunkers.

The par-5 No. 8 is a beast on its own terms, too. Playing 541 yards, you will need to squeeze your shot in between wetlands and a bunker to find the green. Pro tip: Getting a good feel for your irons on these somewhat forgiving par-5s will come in handy for the back nine's challenging par-3s.
